The Folk Music of my Homeland

Some guests of mine were interested  in traditional folk music from my country very much. I do not mean Croatian, but the folk music of the tiny coastal part of Croatia settled between mountains of Velebit and Adriatic sea, from city of Zadar to Dubrovnik that we call Dalmatia.

In globalised world of music mas production and mixing everything from everywhere it isn't easy to say what is origin any more. Dalmatian traditional music has already adapted so many influences. Contemporary music production and media erases traces of history daily. Neither locals do not know the original sound of the folks music. Many believe that it is a sound and rythm of Zorba the Greek by famous composer Mikis Theodorakis indicates the atmosphere (if not sound) of the folk music of ancient Greece. But, no matter how I like it, is it true ?

Yesterday I found something on Youtube that put some light on the matter. The irony is that the song I found that is the rare original Dalmatian folk's music is a musical background of Franch movie. More then this the song is atributed to a rock musician .-)

So enjoy the original Dalmatian music performed  in old Dalmatian dialect in the famous historic French movie Queen Margot
